Scholarship Description:

Dr. Yunhe Feng, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas (UNT), is recruiting two Ph.D. students for Fall 2025.

Dr. Feng’s primary research focus is on Responsible AI, addressing various risks and challenges related to privacy, reliability, transparency, algorithmic fairness, and ethical governance in artificial intelligence, especially large models. The emerging field of Responsible AI has gained widespread attention due to issues like data misuse, facial recognition discrimination, and failures in pedestrian detection in autonomous driving. Concerns over potential privacy breaches, poor robustness, lack of transparency, algorithmic bias, and ethical risks pose significant challenges to the healthy development and scaling of AI technologies.

Before joining UNT, Dr. Feng was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington (2020-2022) and earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Tennessee in 2020. He also worked as a deep learning intern and research assistant at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr. Feng has received research funding from major tech companies like Microsoft and Google-Harvard. His work has been featured in over 20 media outlets, including the Financial Times and Yahoo Finance. He was listed in the 2024 Dallas AI 75 List and received the 2023 IEEE Smart Computing Early Career Award.

With over 60 published papers in high-level conferences and journals (such as USENIX Security, CVPR, and AAAI), he has won multiple best paper awards and has served as an area chair and TPC member for numerous international conferences.
