Scholarship Description:
The Animal Science Department at North Carolina A&T State University, led by Dr. Yongjie Wang, is hiring a Research Associate (staff position, equivalent to postdoc with an annual salary of $50,000 to $60,000).
Dr. Yongjie Wang is an assistant professor (tenure track) who graduated from Sichuan Agricultural University and earned his PhD from the University of Arkansas in 2021. He completed a postdoc at Weill Cornell Medicine in 2022-2023. His research focuses on the effects of pre-slaughter factors (such as feed additives, quality, and gut microbiota) on muscle growth performance and meat quality. He uses techniques like high-throughput sequencing and gene protein expression analysis to explore the mechanisms behind muscle development and meat quality differences. Dr. Wang has published dozens of papers in journals such as Metabolism, Food Bioscience, and Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, and has been invited to review for journals like Animals, Genes, and Frontiers in Nutrition. His lab currently receives $700,000 in funding from USDA-NIFA.

Eligibility criteria:
- Strong self-learning ability, good teamwork awareness, responsibility, and interest in research, especially in animal science and meat science.
- Education Requirements: Master’s or PhD in the U.S. (PhD preferred).
- Relevant Master’s and PhD Fields: Animal Science or Meat Science.
- Skill Requirements: Preference for candidates with experience in animal experiments, meat quality testing, RT-qPCR, microbiome data analysis, Western blot, RNA-seq, and similar skills.
- The position is open until filled and can be renewed annually based on performance.
