Scholarship Description:
Dr. Liu earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2008. She received her PhD from Indiana University in 2014 and completed postdoctoral training in cardiac and vascular biology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with Dr. Li Qian and Dr. Victoria Bautch. During her postdoc, she developed strong interests in heart regeneration, angiogenesis, and OMICS approaches.
In October 2022, Dr. Liu joined MCW to establish her own lab, aiming to contribute to cardiovascular regeneration research that will one day help repair failing hearts.
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a private medical and pharmacy school, and graduate school of sciences in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is the second-largest research center in the state, investing over $300 million annually in research, teaching, and training. In 2020, MCW ranked in the top third of US medical schools for NIH research support.
Milwaukee, the most populous city in Wisconsin, has a metropolitan population of 1.57 million. It is a two-hour drive from Chicago and boasts a diverse population and culture.
Available Subjects:
- The Liu lab combines OMICS approaches with mouse models and human cell culture to investigate heart regeneration and angiogenesis.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants with background in cardiovascular biology or OMICs approaches are preferred.
